Known for our relentless zeal for simplicity, SHADES FOODS is often described as a rich melting pot of intricate flavours, eclectic colours, cross-cultural blends of Western and Sri Lankan influences, fused with incredible smells that can be exotic, spicy, hot, sweet and overwhelming, all at the same time.

Meet Chef Wick
Wick comes mainly from a hospitality background having begun his career working with several resort hotels, including Colombo Hilton where he further sharpened his culinary skills before migrated to Australia. Continuously hungry for new food knowledge and kitchen experience, Wick quickly worked his way up as Chef at several restaurant here in Melbourne, before venturing out on his own to start COCOMILS Café and subsequently, Shades Foods in Dandenong to serve as Chef/owner.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Wick first developed his eclectic culinary pallet while attending Ceylon hotel school where he graduated in Culinary Management, and achieved several awards and accolades, all in just 4 years.

During his hospitality career spanning nearly 20 years, Wick held many titles including, Head Chef and Executive Chef. Wick leads Shades Foods culinary team, overseeing the café menu development and facilitating the ongoing creative process of seamlessly executing large scale catering events by ensuring that each dish is prepared with the highest level of precision, detail, and quality to deliver a unique dining experiences for his patrons and clients.
